The hidden treasure of Spačva

The well-kept secret of the Spačva forest is truffles! These underground fungi most often grow near the roots of trees such as the oak, the beech, the poplar, the willow and the elm, so it is not surprising that we find them in the oak-rich Spačva. The intense and pungent earthy smell gives truffle dishes a specific taste. In addition to being simply adored by every gourmand, truffles are also known as aphrodisiacs. But to end up on the plates of true connoisseurs, they must first be found.

Since these are underground mushrooms, the search for them is a unique experience and a real attraction. Truffle hunting is led by an expert truffle hunter, whose most important companion is a trained dog with a keen sense of smell. It will find places where extremely valued and somewhat mysterious mushrooms grow. In the Tourist Board of the Spačva Forest Area you can try your hand at truffle foraging or enjoy truffle dishes. White truffles are best sought for from September through December, and black truffles for the rest of the year.
